The Federation of Foreign Language Teachers in Finland SUKOL is a central organization (founded in 1957) of associations of foreign language teachers, with 23 local and 9 national member associations. These in turn have a total of some 3000 members.SUKOL is a pedagogic organization whose aim is to promote the instruction and study of foreign languages in Finland.
SUKOL is a member of FIPLV, Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Langues Vivantes, which in turn is a B-status member of Unesco. SUKOL has close relations with its Nordic counterparts.
SUKOL safeguards the occupational interests of language teachers through OAJ, Trade Union of Education in Finland.
SUKOL publishes the magazine TEMPUS 4–6 times annually.
SUKOL organizes training conferences for its members.
SUKOL owns as sole shareholder a limited company Sukol-Palvelu Oy, which produces and sells teaching materials, for instance language tests. Sukol-Palvelu also produces and sells t-shirts, canvas bags etc.
