Keynote Speakers
Maxim Fedorov

Maxim Fedorov works as a journalist for Yleisradio (Finland’s national public broadcasting company) and the German public, state-owned international broadcaster Deutsche Welle. Since May 2022, he has been Yleisradio’s permanent correspondent in Kyiv, reporting to the Finnish audience about life during the war in Ukraine and Russia’s invasion. He has also written a book about the stories of Ukrainians and his own experiences, titled Minun Ukrainani (“My Ukraine”).
He says: “In practice, I've needed all the languages I know for my work, and at this point, there are ten of them. Some I use less frequently, others more often. I would say that I use five or six languages daily, and I no longer view them through the lens of native language versus foreign language. They are all a natural part of me.”
In his presentation, Fedorov will address the following questions: The importance of language skills in today’s world and in the modern workplace – how will this change with the breakthrough of artificial intelligence? The war in Ukraine forced many to change their everyday or work language – does language truly define one’s worldview?
